Position-Piping Design Engineer
Job Description
Responsible for the management, performance of piping design & layout , engineering functions in the area of piping & layout engineering and related area from the bid stage through contract close out for Coal fired and Gas fired Power stations.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES (List of specific responsibilities)
1. Plan and direct all piping & layout Engineering functions supporting bid and contract execution including evaluation and Implementation of Various Engineering application packages - CAESAR II, PDS, PDMS & CAD Works
2. Manage the achievement of all deliverables in accordance with schedule commitments, contract requirements, quality standards, man-hour estimates and business performance objectives including control of project changes .
3. Oversee and guide engineers for preparation, checking and updating of Equipment and Piping Layout Drawings, Piping General Arrangement Drawings, Nozzle Orientation Drawings, Isometric Drawings-preparation.
4. Oversee and guide engineers for Preparation of MTO and MRs for Pipes, Fittings, Flanges, Gaskets, Fasteners, Valves, Hangers, supports, etc.,approval of QAPs.
5. Stress analysis of Pipes and decision of location and type of supports, restraints, guides, Stanchion & Trunnion supports, etc. Design load data for preparation of Structural and Civil drgs. Specification for Fabrication welding. Stress relieving,NDT, Hydro/Pneumatic testing, surface preparation, Painting, wrapping/coating, cathodic protection of piping.
6. Ensure an overall quality engineering and minimizing variances from as-sold estimates through proposal and integration with Project Engineering and other functional engineering operations.
5. Provide technical representation with customers, partners, suppliers.
6. Oversee establishment and implementation of engineering philosophies, parameters and procedures governing piping engineering, including compliance with National & international codes.
7. Influence business competitiveness through Total Quality, cost reduction, product development, process improvement and automation initiatives.
8. Provide resource planning and staffing management aligned with short and long-term needs of the business unit.
9. Conduct the selection and assignment of department resources, providing effective motivation, development, assessment and recognition of employees.
