Structural Engineer
5 years minimum experience
Job Description:
Has experience in the Oil & Gas industries and is recognized as specialist in structural engineering field on large to mega offshore projects. Prepares and reviews engineering studies, design drawings and documents, and material and equipment specifications. Resolves specialty related engineering issues by applying accepted principles, codes, and standards. Must have thorough knowledge of engineering practices and economic principles, calculation methods, design details, international codes and standards, procedures, and specifications.
Responsibilities and duties
Develop a working knowledge of the codes and specifications that govern civil and structural work (e.g. API, AISC, ABS, DNV, Eurocode, and NORSOK).
Perform analysis and design of items including: pipe supports, simple pipe racks, access platforms and small steel structures using hand calculations and/or SACS.
Design other secondary or tertiary structures or structural components using hand calculations and/or SACS.
Prepare sketches to convey design intent to designers and supervising engineers.
Review structural design drawings against prepared sketches.
Perform weight takeoffs, material orders, and weight reports for offshore facilities.
Assist in preparing portions of project documents (such as specifications)..
Assist in determining schedule and budget requirements
Qualifications:
B. Sc Engineering Degree
