Mechanical Engineer - Boilers, Power

Position: Mechanical Engineer - Boilers, Power

Job Description:

Responsible for Mechanical Design of boiler components on Power and Recovery boiler projects on Capital and Service part of organization.

• Perform boiler pressure part calculations according to meeting ASME section I, and B31.1 requirements for CFB, BFB and recovery boilers.
• Perform strength calculations on boiler pressure retaining components like buckstays, wall boxes and floor beams.
• Calculate boiler, ducting and piping loads and provide information for steel design.
• Perform pipe stress analysis on boiler proper piping according to ASME B31.1.
• Perform boiler ducting strength calculations including supports and hangers.
• Prepare Technical Purchase Specification (TPS) for vendor equipment or vendor fabrication components.
• Prepare requisitions for vendor supplied/fabrication equipment.
• Review vendor quotations and prepare technical bid evaluations to finalize vendor selection.
• Review equipment and vendor fab drawings to be in compliance with specifications.
• Review and approve shop fabrication drawings, and also customer submittal drawings.
• Coordinate and assist vendors shop on shop related issues in particular engineering related questions.
• Support layout and design group with required information
• Review the project schedule and support team in meeting the schedule.
• Perform frequent site visits to obtain the required information for the project and also support the field work.
• Support field construction on RFI's and technical information needs.

Experience Profile:
• BS in Mechanical Engineering and 2-5+ years of professional industry experience
• Superior mechanical design skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Good technical report writing skills
• Proficient in performing calculations for mechanical engineering and stress calculations.

Helpful/Preferred:
• Experience and/or education in power generation
• Experience with boiler components 
• Computer skills in Auto-Cad, Math-Cad, Caesar II and STAAD
